After living in Western Australia for a spell of 15 years, I greatly admired the art of local aboriginal artists who produce amazing glimpses into the history and culture of Australia. Their use of colour and the thought put into their designs is wonderful to see. Australia was where I learnt my craft and I have been painting and selling my work internationally for over 12 years now.
On returning to the UK in 2019, I made the decision to open Gallery 68 and move into premises in Hythe, New Forest. Due to Covid-19 I had to make the decision to close the gallery but am continuing 24/7 online, Covid won’t stop me!
A little more about my life as an artist, my true appreciation of art didn’t start until I was in my 30’s and it took me to 40 before my first attempt at painting. I quickly discovered my passion, I don’t have any formal training, I just paint what I think and feel at the time and am constantly learning new techniques and applications.
I love to create texture in my paintings, I use either texture gel or just lots of paint! I feel it gives the work much more depth, feeling and brings it to life. I utilise metallic paints and mica powders to create my own colours and mix and match where I can.
There are many artists works that I enjoy and appreciate, but I have a great admiration for Jackson Pollock and find his pieces to be both mind boggling and inspirational.
